Peter Polaine
Peter trained at Walthamstow School of Arts as a painter under Stuart Ray and Margaret Green with Peter Blake and Ken Russell.
His printmaking currently runs alongside his painting and Peter prefers woodcut printmaking as it gives him the opportunity to create strong images. Peter uses a variety of woods and it has become addictive whenever he sees a piece of wood, looking at the grain and possibilities, he has even had his eyes on sections of people's dining tables!
Peter is influenced a lot by the German Expressionists. He belongs to Sudbourne Park printmakers and uses the antique Columbian or smaller Albion printing press. He likes to push the boundaries of printmaking, often thinking that he has discovered something new, only to find out that it has been done before.
