Katy Bailey

Pastellist and painter

Cambridge born artist Katy Bailey has been painting for as long as she can remember.

Her work is mostly large figurative pastels but just recently she has been exploring her energetic use of charcoal to draw many of the landscapes around Cambridge. Her charcoal portraits are both strong and enigmatic.

In her pastels she uses a mixed media of multi layered tissue paper, ink and paint before drawing , which give depth and texture to her work.

She sees her work as a diary in paint , a never-ending journey into hopes and desires , past present and those to come. Sensual , soft moments captured by the essence of a thought.

She draws with passion the power and beauty of the nude and loves the subtle conflicts between body language and eyes.

Her work has sold in Manhattan ,Brighton , London`s Cork Street , a solo show in Paris and Dublin.
